Splitting Hard drive
As far as I am aware, you should have two options, during the setup wizard, Clean Install and Custom, if you choose Custom, you will see the drive you created for Windows Vista. Select it and click Next and setup will begin to load files to it.

If you have created two partitions ( let's call them C: and E:) Windows XP should be installed on partition C:. When you come to install Vista you will a list of partitions will be visible to allow you to choose exactly where you want to put vista (you only get this list if you have two partitions/hard drives or more). Select the partition you want to install Vista to and then continue with the installation. It might be worth actually naming the partition (in windows xp disk managment) Vista. At least then you will know -- John Barnett MVP Associate Expert http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org

Setup has to copy temporary files to C: first before it copies files to the target drive. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta "Scott" wrote in message

Vista automatically designated C: as it's drive letter. So long as you have selected the correct partition on your hard drive Vista will install to that.
