I had that happen to a hard drive using version 5. After merging partitions, PQ Magic re-booted to re-size the drive and, upon reboot, gave some hideous error and the drive was irretrievably dead! Hopefully more recent versions corrected that fatal flaw although I have not used this software since.

I have been tidying up my volumes from my second Hard Drive using OS 9.22. I tided up the "Classic" and OS x Drive - two partitions. I moved files around in X.
